Make a contribution today!

Support Bob Blackburn’s legacy.

Support accessible printmaking.

Support print education.

Our goal is to raise $54,000 to maintain our print facilities and continue free public programming that brings together generations of artists, printers and friends.

Nearly eight decades of operating, we are the longest running community printshop in the United States. Next year, we will be celebrating 20 Years located at Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts. We invite you to join us in supporting the Printmaking Workshop‘s continued growth and vision with an end-of-year donation.

Your contribution is vital in sustaining our commitment to Bob Blackburn’s mission: to keep printmaking affordable and accessible, to promote the medium through education and public programs, and to provide opportunities for artistic development.

We are so inspired over the last year of accomplishments, from launching our Blackburn Study Center and completed The Only Thing That Lasts: A Video-Based Oral History of Robert Blackburn’s Printmaking Workshop, funded by Hauser & Wirth Institute. Through the support of the Dedalus Foundation we will create An Online Digital Platform for the project as well. We are also excited to announce that we are recipients of a Documentary Heritage and Preservation Services for New York (DHPSNY) assessment.

We launched new editions and unique prints with Haig Aivazian, Stephanie Santana, Tsedaye Makonnen, and Chakaia Booker. This year, we exhibited new prints and works from The Print Archive in prestigious museums and institutions, such as New York Public Library, The Metropolitan Museum of ArtMuseum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Venice Biennale

Alongside hosting notables exhibitions in our Blackburn Study Center, such as Chakaia Booker | Works on Paper, in conjunction with her public art installation, supported by the Garment District AllianceWhere We At | Black Women Artists Now! organized by Dindga McCannon, in partnership with Weeksville Heritage Center, along with free public programming: In Dialogue | Dindga McCannon & Stephanie Santana, Free Workshops with Linda Hiwot, Dianne Ifill and Joyce Wellman; Dindga McCannon x OlaRonke Akimowo from The Free Black Women’s Library on Collectives and Self-Organizing; we have organized over 25 public programs, 68 classes that have drawn audiences of all ages and backgrounds, including scholarships from Crossed Purposes; welcomed eight Kahn | Mason SIP Fellows and 9 MFA/BFA awardees in the tri-state area; offered more than a dozen off-site workshops in collaboration with our partner organizations; hosted tours for over 1,200 visitors; and maintained a printmaking studio that provided studio space to over 300 artists and printers.
