INTERNSHIPS

Internships are open to any artist looking to learn while they work.  Students, recent grads, and printmakers alike are all welcome to apply. EFA RBPMW internship program is designed to be an enriching educational experience. Positions are available as a Studio & Administrative Intern, Teaching Assistant Intern, and Archive Assistant Intern.

GUIDELINES

  • Academic credit arrangements for the internship must be made by the student. All paperwork for credit exchange is to be furnished at the beginning of the internship period.

  • All interns receive studio access outside of their internship hours for an exchange of 2 hours in the studio for 1 hour of interning. Internships are unpaid.

Studio and Administrative Internship

  • Studio Internships are in person for a minimum of 2 days per week for a three-month commitment. Interns must be available to work during office hours (12 pm - 7 pm, Wednesday - Sunday).

  • This is a hands-on internship: expect to help out on contract printing jobs and edition publications; prepare stones, and photolitho plate production; install exhibitions, and work in the archives. Learn administrative tasks from processing memberships, inventory and design posters and update/ edit the printshop’s website. Opportunities to learn and develop a range of techniques: riso, screenprinting, lithography to letterpress. Students, recent grads, and printmakers alike are all welcome to apply

Teaching Assistant Internship

  • Teaching Assistant Internships are a commitment for at least 3 months. This internship can be flexible, and will depend on our class schedule; classes are typically 3 hours/ session and occur on weekday afternoons, nights and weekends.

  • During this internship you will gain experience hosting printmaking workshops while learning techniques and theories from renowned printmakers.

Archive Assistant Internship

  • The Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop (RBPMW) was founded in 1947 by Robert Blackburn, one of the most prominent African American artist/printmakers of the past century for the advancement of printmaking as a fine art medium. His workshop produced a variety of works that are housed in the RBPMW Archive. These works are in need of organization for educational and historical purposes. The Archive Assistant Internship would help the RBPMW prepare this collection for public viewing.

  • Responsibilities include assisting in the archiving of RBPMW prints such as: cataloging, photographing, packing, and conservation.

  • Skills requirements: Computer literate (Mac and PC), able to handle fine art prints, digital photography and web skills a plus.
